Public Map Platform
The Public Map Platform is a two-year research initiative led by Cambridge University to make places in the UK better for the people who live there.
We're almost there! This is the Beta-version of the Public Map Platform. Version 1.0 will be launched in early 2026. To use this version you will need an account. If you would like an account please email Professor Scott Orford at OrfordS@cardiff.ac.uk.
All the tools you need
Map the World Around You
Create compelling, interactive maps from layers built-in to the Public Map Platform or use your own. Personalise your maps with symbols and colours and share them with a link or a QR code.
Community Driven
The Public Map Platform is a community-driven project. We are working with schools, local authorities, and community groups to create map layers that reflect the needs and interests of the people who live in those communities. Over 300 photos and 330 videos have been created by communities for the platform.

Over 40 layers have been created by the community, including schools, local authorities, and community groups on a variety of topics including life on the railway, zines, giants, sea creatures and air quality monitoring.
Symbols
Map markers don't have to be boring - we've got over 2400 symbols for you to choose from - or upload your own. Of course, if you like the classic blue marker we've got that one too.
